Grab a kayak and head off to the clear blue waters.  Look down upon the beautiful reefs, wave to the locals as they motor by in wooden canoes.  Paddle your way across to dozens of islets or just toss a rod out into the water and catch your lunch.

A little further out on the ocean from Isla Colon will bring you to the untouched beauty of Bird Island and the Isla Escudo de Veraguas.  Unparalleled in their natural wonderment, these breathtaking places defy logic and wow us with what magnificent nature can provide. Bird Island’s beautiful rock islets are an oasis to thousands of birds.  Kayak or snorkel around the islands or even through them.  A longer boat ride will bring you to the Isla Escudo de Veraguas, a chain of islands and beach in the middle of the ocean. Complete with its own river and crashing waves, it feels as if you washed up on shore to a deserted island and the cast of Gilligan’s will pop their heads out the jungle.

If a little adrenaline is more up your alley. There are several awesome surf spots that are world famous for their furious waves and danger.  Still want to jump-start your heart?  There are many tours designed for your adventure close to the islands.  One will bring you deep into the cave systems filled with bats in the National Park of Bastimentos.  Another will take you through long winding rivers brimming with wild life that make you feel as if you are in the Amazon. Want to push it another notch? Jet Skiing, four-wheeling, jungle tours, zip lines, sailing, and anything else you can think is of is right around the corner.
